Teams consist of
eight (8) players.
Each player must
bowl two eight (8) ball overs and each pair of players must bat
for four (4) overs.
Runs to be scored
by the ball hitting the net from the bat into any of the
following areas :-
Zone A – runs scored
only by batsmen running
Zone B - one run.
Zone C - two runs.
Zone B or C onto
Zone D - three runs.
Zone D - fours runs
on the bounce.
Zone D - six runs on
the full.
Runs will only be
scored if the batters successfully make a physical run.
Sundries: No balls
- 2 runs Wides - 2 runs Leg sides- 2 runs
Jackpot Balls will be bowled
on the last ball of the 2nd last over of each
batting partnership (ie the 3rd, 7th, 11th
& 15th overs). Runs scored will be doubled as will
any dismissals (incl. double-plays). All wides leg sides and no-balls on the
jackpot ball can be re-bowled at the batsman’s discretion. If
the jackpot ball is to be re-bowled,
2 runs will be added to the team total for the unfair delivery
before the jackpot ball is re-bowled. Any runs
scored from the next fair jackpot ball will be doubled. If
not re-bowled, the amount scored
(including the 2 runs for the unfair ball) will be doubled.
Double plays can be affected
on any balls including the ‘third ball’. The same batter
cannot be
“double-played”. Double Plays on
jackpot balls will result in a loss of 20 runs.
Hatrick Ball is worth minus 10
runs for any wicket taken. A double play on the hatrick
ball is worth minus 20 runs. A hatrick affected on
the jackpot ball will have a maximum of minus 10 runs added to the amount of runs already doubled
for the dismissal(s). For example, a double play on a ‘jackpot
ball – hatrick ball’ will be worth minus
30 runs.
Runs to be
deducted for:-
Dismissals (see
methods of dismissal) – five runs.
Misconduct - umpires
discretion.
Time wasting -
umpires discretion.
Methods of
dismissal:-
Bowled
Stumped
Run out
Caught, off the bat
or off the nets
Hit Wicket
L.B.W - only when
the player has offered no stroke to ball when if pitched would
have broken the wicket.
Interference - where
a batsman obstructs fieldsmen or the ball in play deliberately.
Double Play:-
non-striking batsman may be run out on the same ball that led to
a dismissal at the striker’s end.
Mankad.- If a
non-striker leaves the crease prior to the delivery of the ball
and the bowler completes a delivery action then breaks the
stumps with the hand holding the ball, the non-striker will be
out “Mankad”. A legitimate Mankad dismissal or attempt does not
count as part of the over.
Bad language,
unsportsmanlike behaviour, and rude manners will not be
tolerated. Everyone is here to have fun.
No-Balls Leg
Sides & Wides
Any no-balls leg
sides and wides will incur a penalty of 2 runs.
Any no-balls leg
sides and wides bowled in the last over of each partnership may
be re-bowled at the batter’s discretion.
Any batter dismissed
off a no-ball, leg side or wide will be penalised 5 runs. The 2
run bonus for the no-ball leg side or wide is negated by the
dismissal. A batsman dismissed off a no ball, leg side or a wide
can still have the ball re-bowled if desired.
Third Ball
Should the score
remain unchanged after any 2 consecutive deliveries; the umpire
will call “Third Ball”. On the next delivery the score
must change (either by a run, no-ball, leg side or wide) or a
dismissal will be recorded against the striker. The Third Ball
rule will not carry over from one batting partnership to the
next, but will carry over to the next over of each partnership.
Dead Ball
Any ball, when bowled, that leaves
the playing area or lodges in the net as a result of being hit
by the striker, will be called “Dead Ball”,
no runs will count and the ball will be re-bowled.
Any ball that leaves
the area without being touched by the batter or fielding side
will be called “Dead Ball” and be re-bowled.
Any ball that leaves
the playing area as a result of an attempted run out will be
called “Dead Ball”. All runs scored prior to the ball leaving
the playing area will count and the ball will not be re-bowled.
The Base Plate
The Base Plate is
considered to be part of the stumps and any ball that hits the
base plate is considered equal to hitting the stumps.
Late Arrivals
Any team failing to arrive on time
will forfeit the toss. If both teams arrive late, the first team
to have 6 players present will have the right
of choice.
Individual players
arriving late may take part in the match providing their arrival
is before the commencement of the 13th over of the
first innings. A late player arriving after the 13th
over of the 1st innings, may participate but cannot
bat or bowl and is regarded as a late player, not a substitute,
and may keep wickets if their team is fielding.
Players Short
If a team is 1
player short:
WHEN
BATTING: after 12 overs, the captain of the fielding side will
nominate 1 player to bat again in the last 4 overs.
WHEN
FIELDING: after 14 overs, the captain of the batting side must
choose 2 players to bowl the 15th and 16th
overs.
If a team is 2
players short:
WHEN
BATTING: after 12 overs, the captain of the fielding side will
choose 2 players to bat again in the last 4 overs.
WHEN
FIELDING: after 12 overs, the captain of the batting side must
choose 2 players each to bowl two of the last 4 overs.
Field Placement
The court is divided
into 2 halves with the dividing line being the non-striker’s
running crease. No more than 4 fielders may field in either half
of the court from the moment the bowler commences their run up
until the ball leaves the bowler’s hand. If this rule is
contravened, the umpire will call “No Ball”.
Finals
Qualification
To become qualified
to play in finals with a team, a player must have played at
least one third of the minor round games. |
